Tornadoes are born in thunderstorms and are often accompanied by hail. Giant, ongoing thunderstorms are called supercells spawn the most destructive tornadoes. These violent storms occur around the world, but the United States of America is a major hotspot with about a thousand tornadoes every year.

Tornadoes are rapid air masses that spin around vertically to the ground, their winds speeds may get up to 250 miles (400 kilometres) an hour and can clear a pathway in a miles radius and get up to 50 miles in height. Most tornadoes last only two or three minutes, but the ones on the news normally last up to fifteen minutes.

The terrain underneath it base does not affect tornadoes. i.e. (they can occur in mountainous areas or flat land areas). Tornadoes can very in colour, their mostly white, black or grey it depends how the light hit it. Tornadoes often occur on the west side of a thunderstorm.

Tornado Alley, a region that includes (eastern South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, northern Texas, and eastern Colorado), are home to the most powerful and destructive of these storms. Tornadoes in the USA cause 80 deaths and more than 1,500injuries per year.

There are five main signal you have to look for

1.The sky will suddenly turn a dark greenish colour.

2.Hail stones will start to fall from the sky they can very in sizes.

3.If you see a cloud of debris, coming towards you that mean the torndoe is not far away so you have little time to get to safty.

4.Many people think that a tornadoe comes with raging wind and hail. NO in many cases tornadoes come in quiet and stillness.

5.If you hear a tornadoe siren it doesn't mean a tornadoe is coming it means that take cover as fast as you because you mite not have time left to hide.
